Irish Lamb is renowned throughout the world as a wonderful choice and it is a favourite for many Chef’s to feature on their menus.Here at Lord Kenmare’s Restaurant we are delighted to share that all our lamb is supplied by the Ring of Kerry Quality Lamb, a group over 30 sheep farmers who live around the Ring of Kerry
Their core focus is a common commitment to quality and a drive to maintain and grow a sustainable local enterprise. The business was created in 2009 when the group came together to market their lamb directly. This strategy was created by them working with Teagasc, Bord Bia, Kerry County Enterprise Board and South Kerry Development partnership.
This enabled them to then partner with local butchers and working closely with them they can guarantee their customers the highest product from an environmental and welfare perspective on the farm, to processing and packaging and transport further down the chain.
As featured previously in Country Living in the Irish Farmers Journal the group have enjoyed a visit from renowned Chef Nevin Maguire who shared “Ring of Kerry Quality Lamb is very innovative and most importantly, its Bord Bia assured, we know we’re getting Irish Lamb. I buy my lamb directly from them.” In addition Nevin also shared “the environment this lamb is farmed in is very natural, they feed off heather and clover and the meat has a lovely sweet taste”.(ref Irish Farmers Journal, Country Living).
Here at the Lord Kenmare’s Restaurant a featured dish using Ring of Kerry Quality Lamb is our delicious Moorish Style Lamb Kebab with home-made hummus, tzatziki and wholemeal pitta bread.
